EBX19 - 3 Ring Single Jointed Cartwheel Bit
3 Ring Single Jointed Cartwheel Bit
The 3 Ring Single Jointed Cartwheel bit can be useful for giving extra control over speed and direction on horses that tend to become strong when jumping, but do not have hard mouths.
Cartwheel
The mouthpiece attaches to a post running vertically through the centre of the bit rings (hence the 'Cartwheel'), giving a slight tilting action. Cartwheels can often be suitable for horses that are difficult to turn, because the rings enhance steering aids by placing pressure on the horse's face. It also creates more positive poll pressure then a plain 3 ring gag, as the mouthpiece runs on a straight bar rather than on bit rings.
3 Ring Gag
The top ring is attached to the cheekpieces to apply poll pressure, resulting in the horse's head lowering, while the lower ring provides leverage, causing a head raising action. When these actions are combined, it results in a gag action.
The reins can be attached to this bit in a number of ways to create the desired action: when attached to the big main ring it results in a hanging cheek action with poll pressure, and if attached to the bottom ring it creates a gag action. The lower the reins are attached to the bit, the greater the leverage exerted. This bit can also be used with two reins - one on the main ring and one on the bottom ring - or pelham roundings connecting the rings.
Single Jointed Mouthpiece
This is a mild mouthpiece that creates pressure on the horse's tongue and bars of the mouth.
Bit rubbers sold separately.
