The Swales Pelham removes poll pressure as the cheeks are attached to the inner loose snaffle rings that float on the mouthpiece.
The lack of poll pressure emphasises the action of the curb chain, exerting more pressure on the lower jaw. It is very effective on strong horses and those that tend to lean or snatch downwards. Lightness and outline is established and any tendency to overbend is usually eradicated.
Seen as a strong bit, the Swales is very effective in the right hands and is recommended to be used with two sets of reins.
Available in a choice of mouth, port and shank sizes.
This item is supplied with a curb chain.
