Colin Miles Pelham
The Colin Miles Pelham from Bombers Bits has a 55mm centre piece with rings. This creates tongue pressure if the horse becomes strong and also gives the horse something to play with, which encourages a soft contact and helps to keep the horse's attention on the bit.
The blue sweet iron mouthpiece encourages salivation, softening and acceptance of the bit because it oxidises easily, creating a warm, sweet taste in the horse's mouth. The double joint means the mouthpiece follows the contours of the horse's mouth, which reduces the 'nutcracker' action associated with single jointed bits, and resultant bar and palate pressure.
The rings on the Pelham provide a similar action to that offered by a double bridle, but in a less precise manner. When the top rein is used, the bit has a similar action to that of a hanging cheek snaffle, putting pressure on the bars of the mouth as well as a limited amount of poll pressure. The curb rein provides leverage action on the poll and also puts pressure on the curb groove via the curb chain. The pelham can be used with two reins or with pelham roundings.
A curb chain is included with this bit.
Please note that the blue will fade with use.
