The Twisted Wire Buster Roller bit from Bombers Bits offers a strong mouthpiece, which can be useful for horses that require extra control, along with full cheeks to assist with steering.
The twists in the mouthpiece have edges that cause additional pressure points on the tongue and bars of the mouth, and also act on the lips. Combined with the thin mouthpiece, this offers the rider much more control than a smooth bit, and can help to prevent the horse from leaning as well as aiding in lifting the forehand. It is recommended that twisted wire bits are only used by experienced riders.
The 40mm roller link in the centre encourages the horse to play with the roller and soften to the contact, as well as increasing tongue and bar pressure. The blue sweet iron mouthpiece oxidises easily, creating a warm, sweet taste in the horse's mouth. This encourages the horse to salivate, gently mouth the bit and relax his jaw, and can help horses who have difficulty accepting conventional metal bits.
Full cheeks keep the bit in a fixed position in the mouth, which some horses prefer to the mobile nature of loose rings. They also help to prevent pinching at the sides of the mouth.
The arms of the full cheeks assist with steering, as pressure is applied to the cheek when a turning aid is given. The cheeks also ensure that the mouthpiece remains in a central position and cannot slide through the horse's mouth.
Please note that the blue will fade with use.
