This bit has a slight twist in the blue sweet iron mouthpiece. The curved mouthpiece distributes pressure more evenly over the tongue and bars, while the offset centre link reduces the nutcracker action and consequent pressure points.
The blue sweet iron mouthpiece oxidises easily, creating a warm, sweet taste in the horse's mouth.
This encourages salivation, gentle mouthing and acceptance of the bit.
The loose ring ensures that the bit remains mobile in the horse's mouth, which can help to prevent them 'fixing' against the contact. It also allows for an immediate release of pressure when rein aids are relaxed, thus creating an instant reward for a correct response.
